A new model of society

By means of a holistic support programme, Voix Libres aims to develop a new model of society, in which the most vulnerable, after receiving training validated by a diploma or a specialization, become models of resilience and carry out their own projects in accordance with their real needs…

An economy based on solidarity with fair trade, which rejects the exploitation of children and women and remunerates work fairly, preserves the ecosystem and gives the decision-making power back to the communities. The totality of the profits from the enterprises are reinvested in the organizations and their social programmes so as to achieve a rapid and sustainable increase in the number of beneficiaries.

Projects which combine know-how and ‘knowing how to be’:

  • Rehabilitation of traditional techniques: barter, walipinas (partially buried greenhouse providing 4 to 5 crops of vegetables, fruit and/or flowers per year, at an altitude of over 4’000 m, saving up to 80% of water).

  • Resilience strategies : revealing the potential of the poorest people through group therapy, management training, singing and traditional culture, leadership training (in particular for young people and women) as well as the setting up of ‘solidarity chains’ which enable the poor to help their companions in poverty. Finally, the men and women who have suffered most become the strongest leaders. This global approach touches the innermost in each individual to reveal all their hidden skills and talents and develop their ability to listen to and empathise with others, spontaneously and in a spirit of love….these qualities are essential for establishing a solid structure that corresponds to real needs, a reliable, well-formed network and long-term vision.

  • New products and services: production of quinoa by-products for local markets and export; organisation of healthcare schemes for the poorest, introduction of a social currency in Bolivia (Los Talentos de Voces Libres).

  • Interest-free micro-credits (to combat excessive debts) to people who can offer no collateral and who live in the most precarious of conditions (4'500 m high, bitterly cold, centuries-old tradition of human exploitation, innate fatalism) ; young miners, prisoners, street children or people eking out a living by recycling trash in the garbage dumps…

  • Creation of fair-trade enterprises: founded on the shared dream of a just and prosperous society for all. The greatest revolution: to move from sorting refuse in the dump or working in the mines, to managing a company or producing export-quality goods !

A new multicultural, intergenerational awareness has emerged. It touches all social classes and re-establishes a balance in society. The ecological dimension finds its place in the global perspective of the survival of the poorest communities and neglected mountain regions.
